The ukulele is not your typical rock 'n' roll instrument, but in the hands of Los Angeles-based singer/songwriter LP, it becomes an amazing source of accompaniment. Paired with her soaring, unharnessed vocals, this up-and-coming artist offers a truly unique musical experience. Citibank even thought enough of LP’s song, “Into the Wild,” to feature it a national TV commercial.
Originally from New York, LP grew up in a family filled with doctors and lawyers. She honed her impressive performance skills through a massive touring schedule taking on 250 shows in the course of just one year. Her covers of the Guns N' Roses hit, "Sweet Child O' Mine" and Beyonce's "Halo" have become the stuff of legend. She has penned songs for other singers, but now she's focused on her solo career. LP's Warner Bros. debut album dropped late last month, and even with all the buzz surrounding her, she doesn't plan on slowing down.
"I'm at my most intense when fronting a full-on band," LP declared on her site. "But what I ultimately strive for is that connection with the audience."
It's that raw passion and independent spirit along with her ever-present ukulele that has solidified us as fans.
